How to keep valuable things safe while staying in a hostel?
While staying in a hostel, many hostlers bother about their valuable things getting stolen by thieves. So here we are providing few tips that should helps you to decrease the chances to lose the valuable things.
Always choose hostel with lockers:
While choosing your hostel enquire about hostel, is it providing locker facility or not. Try to choose a hostel with locker. Hostel without lockers are unsafe. It is an advantage for thieves to take your belongings.
Bring a pad lock/security lock:
Right now every hostel providing lockers, if they are not provided lockers at least they will offer room locks. Instead of putting everything on a locker, it’s better to keep all luggages at one place and lock with security lock.
Don’t advertise yourself:
If you have any valuable things like camera, iPod. Don’t wear it around yourself where everyone can see. Because people are more prone to steal items if they have seem around at earlier time.
Don’t carry too much of money:
When you stay in hostel try to avoid maintaining large amount of money. If it is necessary try to maintain with debit cards. It’s not difficult to find an ATM machine when you need.
Don’t ever let someone into your room without your permission:
Commonly in every hostel other people will enter in to room and without taking any permission, take a bed, and wait until people gone searching things to steal. So try to avoid unwanted people enter in to your room without permission.
Keep quiet in hostel:
Some of the thief’s do their work according to who they identify as a potential mark after talking to them. Don’t give any information to others about your carrying things and information about your lifestyle.
Keep your phone and wallet with you:
Always keep your wallet and mobile with you. If it is night, try to put it under your pillow. Don’t even leave it in your room or any other place when you are not in that place.
Not but not least if something went wrong around yourself or don’t trust someone around you, then don’t be afraid to talk with hostel management. They will find a solution for that. Your safety should be your first priority.
